If anything in a game I would only make 2 or 3 bunkers. I usually don't put mg42's in my medic bunker, as well the medic bunker is back and usually out of harms way unless ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan. Which are mostly rare at the start of a game anyway, but so are bunkers so meh. Only real bad things with having a mg42 unit in a bunker is the threat of grenades and flamethowers. Also, people may (at early stages in the game) want to conserve munitions for other things and not an unneccesary mg which they have running around the battlefield anyway. The upgrade is fixed to the front openeing. I would say the reason for putting a mg42 into a bunker over the mg42 upgrade is beause the mg42 unit can shoot out of three spaces. It has two AI controlled pioneers who run around the place repairing stuff. I'll need to check that out the next time I play.
